Kikkoman Instant Tofu Miso Soup (Soybean Paste Soup with Tofu)

I love this stuff!5
I've purchased several different types of packaged miso soups and this is by far the best one I've tried. It cooks easily and quickly. I like to pack several packets for vacations, business trips or camping trips because the soup is so easy to prepare with just a little bit of hot water. And if you forget a spoon, it's okay - just drink it like broth.

Making miso soup "from scratch" is one of the things I've failed miserably at every time I've tried, but with these packets I can save myself time, heartache and money. It even tastes better than some of the miso soups I've had in restaurants.

Savory Gravy Enhancer5
If you love buying rotisserie chicken you can layer slices of chicken on fresh bread, then dip the sandwiches in a delicious homemade chicken gravy. The flavor of the gravy can be greatly enhanced by using this stock base. This chicken base also contains turmeric and soy protein.

Better Than Bouillon is a stock paste or more like a chicken base than a bouillon cube. Dry bouillon cubes are famous for being overly salty and that is why chicken base is a much healthier, not to mention, tasty alternative.

One teaspoon of bouillon blended into one cup of hot water makes one cup of chicken stock. I use two tablespoons butter and two tablespoons flour plus the stock and a sprinkling of poultry seasoning, freshly ground pepper and paprika. Melt the butter in a small saucepan, whisk in the flour and then the stock.

The stock base is also perfect when you are making soups and one to two tablespoons is enough to flavor an entire pot of stock. You can also put the leftover rotisserie chicken in a stockpot, cover with water and simmer with vegetables and herbs/spices to make a delicious homemade stock. I love enhancing the stock with Better Than Bouillon and the possibilities are endless after you learn to make chicken stock and then use this product to enhance the flavor.

You will never use dehydrated bouillon again!5
I discovered this product about a year ago and have not used dehydrated boullion since. It's so convenient to make -- just boil the amount of water you need and add the appropriate amount of base. It blends quickly too. No more undissolved bouillon pebbles in the bottom of the broth!

We're a family of 2 so I was worried that they'd go bad on me before I had a chance to use it all, but I've had open jars stored in the fridge for a few months at a time and have never had a problem. I've also purchased the beef base and am just as pleased. Wonderful products!

Truly much better than bullion!5
I found this product in a gourmet grocery store, and since I like to make sauces, but don't have the time usually to do it from scratch, I tried it. I taste tested it against three different canned and boxed stocks I have used, and it was better. Depending on the concentration you mix it to, it is always chickeny, just a hint of sweet, and looks just like regular stock. I have even tried putting a quarts worth of the concentrate into a cupful of sauce and it doesn't make it salty, just taste richer, and it doesn't seem to affect the chemistry of sauces, thick or thin, no extra tendency to break. I have since tried all the other flavors with equal success. These are great for gourmet camp cooking too, and can be used any where you need a stock but don't want ot haul all the weight and bulk. Makes great soups too, friends and family rave about my Greek Avgolemeno soup which only uses this as the stock, along with some orzo, lemon, egg and diced cooked chicken.

Comfort Food5
I was brought up on Habitant Pea Soup. Can't buy it anywhere else. I am glad that you carry it. This will be a regular buy from now on.

Taste of Home!5
Best soup in a can ever. This is what I grew up on. To find it again is incredible. I bought a whole case. Unfortunately, the shipping costs make ordering more rediculous. I suggest the shipping costs be reduced to move a lot more of this product.
Great soup though!

Pepper Pot Soup! Yum!5
I've loved this soup since I was a little girl (eons ago). When I found out it was tripe soup, it made no difference since I already liked it. Can't find this wonderful warmer locally. That's a loss for my community.

Something great from my childhood still exists!5
I can't believe that you can still get Pepper Pot soup from Cambell's.
I had a conversation re: old time favoties and thing's of the past with some friends. I was talking about foods on general. How they aren't the same or they are gone. A dear friend of mine suggested I check on line. I was so pleased I sent e-mails out to all my contacts telling them on the sucess of my search. My family and I couldn't be happier.

Best stuff on earth5
This is great stuff. All their products are great IMO. I always wondered how all the restaurants had such great stocks and flavored dishes. I delivered this product to many well known eateries and finally found it in stores. It's one of my secrets to great gravy soups or added flavor to any dish.

Super service, excellent product.5
Very, very nice flavor. I add it when cooking rice instead of adding salt. Very good with beef dishes. It adds a complexity to pot-roast [1/2 bottle of bad red wine added to the pot helps] and beef gravies. Add to gravy made with beef base and demi-glace for something really good to pour over a steak.

As for service: 1 hour after placing my order there was a knock on the door and here was my soupbase, hand delivered -- though they _are_, I found out, just around the corner. That's hard to beat.

The best cooking ingredient there is!!5
I love this chicken base, it's delicious! I use it to make soups (quick and easily) but also use it to give extra flavor in steaming veggies, or I rub it on a whole chicken or turkey before baking...YUM!

Customer Reviews

This one is my favorite5
Of the Better Than Bouillon lineup, I've used chicken, mushroom, beef, vegetable, ham and lobster; they are all very good (much better than any other bouillon I've tried), but lobster stands out as both unusual and good: complex, balanced, not fishy.

Here's what I've been using it for recently: I separate a big bunch of
CHARD into leaves and stems, slice the
CHARD STEMS fairly small and sauté them for a few minutes in
WALNUT OIL; add a teaspoon of
LOBSTER BOUILLON, some
CASHEW PIECES and some
RAISINS; while this cooks, slice up the
CHARD LEAVES; add the leaves, cover, and cook for a few more minutes (mix it a couple of times to get the flavored oil distributed evenly).

The number of raisins has a big effect on sweetness; I've tried it at various points between almost none and enough that there's a raisin or two in every mouthful, and I'd say that somewhere in the middle is optimal (a lot of raisins is good too, but shadows the lobster).

I echo the comments of other reviewers: if you use BTB, omit the rest of the salt from the recipe until you're sure it needs it. They make a "reduced sodium" version of some flavors, but it's only 25% less; I couldn't tell that it was less salty.
